R. Eugene Turner, a professor at Louisiana State University, is co-chair of the INTECOL Wetlands Working Group, recipient of the National Wetland Award, the Blasker Award for Science and Engineering with Nancy Rabalais, and the INTECOL Lifetime Achievement Award. He conducts research on the low-oxygen zone off the Mississippi River (the Dead Zone) and wetlands.
