The Waging Peace in Vietnam exhibit is coming to the Wisconsin Historical Society. The exhibit and its companion book edited by Ron Carver, David Cortright, and Barbara Doherty show how the GI movement unfolded and gives voice to the U.S. Soldiers and Veterans who Opposed the War.
Exhibit photographs and informational panels will be on display in the Wisconsin Historical Society lobby (816 State ST., Madison, WI 53706) from April 1 – 21st.

The documentary Truth Tellers will be screening at the Paramount Theatre in Charlottesville, VA. The documentary follows artist Robert Shetterly as he explores what it means to be a good American through his portrait series Americans Who Tell the Truth.
The book Portraits of Racial Justice, which features 50 of Shetterly’s portraits, will be on sale across the street from the theatre at the New Dominion Bookshop.
Oct. 25: AAP Launchpad with John Forester, Editor of How Spaces Become Places

Our work is led by volunteer leaders who are among the people most impacted by equity issues: low-wage workers, young people, immigrants and the formerly incarcerated.
Faith in the Valley is part of the National Faith in Action Network, and are anchored in a prophetic theology of resistance that helps people understand the systemic roots of their shared suffering, as well as articulate an alternative narrative that liberates individuals and communities from the dominant cultural norms that perpetuate inequity.

Activist, author, and clinical psychiatrist Dr. Mindy Thompson Fullilove was a panelist at a conference entitled Urban Activism: Staking Claims in the 21st Century. This conference emerged from the shared need to create a collective discourse on how critical urban research and urban political activism are increasingly converging and creating a common field of inquiry and action. It connects scholars in various fields such as planners, geographers, historians, and critical urbanists with activists working on housing rights and the right to urban identity and the city more generally. Dr. Fullilove is the author of Root Shock, Urban Alchemy, and coauthor of Homeboy Came to Orange.

Author and disability rights activist Nadina LaSpina presented her new memoir—Such a Pretty Girl: A Story of Struggle, Empowerment, and Disability Pride in a free public reading and book signing. Held at Pen and Brush, a 125-year-old nonprofit that works for parity of women artists and writers.The reading occurred at the same time as an art exhibition at Pen and Brush, Women’s Work: Art & Activism in the 21st Century.
