Mat Schwarzman

 

Portrait of Mat SchwarzmanMat Schwarzman is an educator, writer, theater artist, and leader. A long-time member of the community-based arts movement, Schwarzman focuses his work on youth education programs across the country. He is the Co-Founder and Director of the Black and Blue Story Project

Schwarzman has also served as Director at New Orleans Kids Partnership; Crossroads Institute for Arts, Learning & Community, and the Urban Arts Institute in Oakland, California. He is the author of the transformative training manual for teens, Beginner’s Guide to Community Based Arts (New Village Press, 2017), illustrated by Keith Knight

Schwarzman also co-founded and leads Open Channels, an international, collaborative theater project. He lives in New Orleans, Louisiana.
