Daniel O'Connell
Daniel O’Connell (1967–) is a scholar, multidisciplinary ethnographer, and advocate for labor and food rights. He is the Executive Director of Central Valley Partnership, and has served as Co-Director of Food Commons Fresno, San Joaquin Valley Program Manager for American Farmland Trust, and as an Agriculture and Natural Resources Ecosystem Services Consultant for the University of California.
As a politically engaged scholar, O’Connell’s work centers on ways to achieve social, racial, environmental, and economic justice in California. He is a co-author of In the Struggle: Scholars and the Fight Against Industrial Agribusiness in California (New Village Press, 2021) with Scott J. Peters.
O’Connell holds an MS in International Agricultural Development from University of California, Davis and a PhD in Education from Cornell University. He lives in Fresno, California.
