Portrait of Lynne Elizabeth

Lynne Elizabeth is the founding director of New Village Press, an independent nonprofit publisher of progressive books that aim to enrich public discussion and understanding of issues vital to healthy, creative, and socially just communities.


Lynne is a past president of Architects / Designers / Planners for Social Responsibility and the founding director of the former Eos Institute for the Study of Sustainable Living. She has initiated numerous public programs, conferences, and exhibitions, and published the periodicals Earthword and New Village Journal.

Elizabeth is a co-author of Works of Heart: Building Village Through the Arts (New Village Press, 2018) with Suzanne Young, and a co-editor of Beyond Zuccotti Park: Freedom of Assembly and the Occupation of Public Space (New Village Press, 2012) and What We See: Advancing the Observations of Jane Jacobs (New Village Press, 2010).
