Marlene Creates lives in Portugal Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, surrounded by the six–acre patch of boreal forest that has been the focus of her work since 2002. Underlying all her work is an inter­est in place—not as a geograph­ical location, but as a process that involves memory, multiple narratives, ecology, language, and both scientific and vernacular knowledge.
