Dave Zirin (1974–) is an author and radio show host that focuses on sports writing. He was named one of UTNE Reader’s “50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Our World”.  

His writing has also appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and numerous other publications. Dave Zirin writes about the politics of sports for the Nation Magazine. He is also a columnist for SLAM Magazine and the Progressive. He is the author of many books including A People’s History of Sports in the United States and has written an essay for Robert Shetterly’s book, Portraits of Racial Justice (New Village Press, 2021).

Zirin has brought his blend of sports and politics to multiple television programs including NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly, FX’s Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, and ESPN’s Outside the Lines. He is also the winner of the Sport in Society and Northeastern University School of Journalism’s ‘Excellence in Sports Journalism’ Award
